Anthropomorphic Events of Ontario was founded in 2009. Our objectives are simple: we provide opportunities for our local furry community to get together and be social; provide positive development and learning opportunities; and give back to the community that we’re a part of.
And we do it because we believe our community is amazing, especially when we provide opportunities for our members to become even better versions of themselves.
We do all this through three main channels – running an annual convention (Furnal Equinox), supporting local community events, and engaging in community outreach.
Hang on, what’s furry?
We’re a fandom dedicated to enjoying arts and culture centered around animals and fantasy creatures. We use the term “anthropomorphic”, because they walk, talk, and behave like humans.
There’s plenty of examples of furry in our culture, such as sports mascots, Saturday morning cartoons, and popular movies. Our members are visually expressive and creative people: they come up with their own characters, bring them to life through artwork and stories, build and perform in costumes known as “fursuits” and animal-themed accessories… and that’s just scratching the surface.
Our fandom takes pride in its diversity, and we’re represented by people in all sorts of relationships, all age groups, and all walks of life. If this all sounds interesting, come out to a local event… we promise it’ll be an experience you won’t soon forget!
